How to Write a Topic Proposal For an Essay

How to Write a Topic Proposal For an EssayWhen it comes to writing a topic proposal for an essay, there are two main methods of approaching the task. And this article focuses on one of them - the method which I call 'creative.'In order to get an essay published, you're going to need to write it in the style that your publisher wants. The majority of writing manuals that help writers attempt to write essays focus on writing the 'traditional' manner. However, there is another way.By writing in a more creative, 'wild-card' style, you may be able to get away with writing an essay that is a bit longer, but not quite as well written as a traditionally written essay. It certainly won't compete with a traditionally written essay. But it will certainly stand out a little bit from the crowd. The 'wild-card' style is a style that takes the reader's attention off of the topic of the essay. When the essay is in the 'wild-card' mode, the focus turns instead to the first person narration. Instead of being told what the subject is about, it's told what the author thinks it is about.A famous example of this style would be the newspaper column, The Onion. You know the sort of stuff they put in their headlines. Instead of saying something like, 'John Jones finds a huge mole' the headline on these articles is something like, 'Jones finds Huge Mole!' You can even purchase 'writing sample' versions of stories from their website. So how do you approach writing a topic proposal for an essay which utilizes the wild-card style? Well, take the first paragraph of the essay and place it at the end of the piece. This will force the reader to go back to the beginning. After all, if the reader does not know what the subject of the piece is, then they will have to see what the whole thing is about before they can begin to understand it. Thus, they will have to start with the first paragraph. When the reader gets back to the first paragraph, the wild-card mode has forced them to take the time to re ad the rest of the piece. Then, the entire essay will be explained in detail. It will become a story within a story, the way the Onion story is viewed from the beginning, but the rest of the story is explained in a way that is entertaining and not necessarily meant to explain the subject of the essay.
